Funding opportunities and sustainability strategies
What experience would you like to share with the community?
Madam Waste develops decentralised organic waste management and energy systems that transform food waste, animal manure, and garden waste into valuable resources through a circular economy approach. By diverting organic waste from landfill, the site produces renewable biogas, nutrient rich biofertiliser, and high quality compost, demonstrating how cities can reduce landfill dependency while building resilient, circular energy infrastructure that responds to local urban realities. Our hubs function as live demonstration sites and skills development platforms.
What debate or online activity would you like to propose to your peers?
I would like to pose the following questions for debate and online activities, focusing on how waste to value systems such as composting and biogas can be effectively be upscaled from small community initiatives into wider city or national systems, and what is required to develop reliable and accessible markets for compost, biofertiliser, and other soil based products. The discussion would also explore the role of households and communities in improving organic waste separation at source, the barriers that currently limit participation, and how trust and consistent use of organic inputs among farmers and gardeners can be strengthened, alongside identifying the most effective methods for creating awareness around these technologies.
