An assembly is a group of members of an organization who meet periodically to make decisions about a specific area or scope of the organization.

Assemblies hold meetings, some are private and some are open. If they are open, it is possible to participate in them (for example: attending if the capacity allows it, adding points to the agenda, or commenting on the proposals and decisions taken by this organ).

Examples: A general assembly (which meets once a year to define the organisation's main lines of action as well as its executive bodies by vote), an equality advisory council (which meets every two months to make proposals on how to improve gender relations in the organisation), an evaluation commission (which meets every month to monitor a process) or a guarantee body (which collects incidents, abuses or proposals to improve decision-making procedures) are all examples of assemblies.

This assembly is a space for collaborators to plan, coordinate and participate in the development of the REUSES initiative. It enables partners to share ideas, organise activities, align strategies and collectively advance the regeneration of urban soils through education, community engagement and water reuse practices.

REUSES is a collaborative initiative emerging from the SoilTribes Bootcamp (Group 2) focused on reclaiming urban sealed soils through participatory learning and ecological regeneration.

The challenge began as a technical initiative to remove impermeable surfaces and restore soil vitality, based on an initial pilot in Ancona supported by the Ministry of Research. Through the Bootcamp process, the project evolved into a broader social and educational strategy.

Today, REUSES frames soil restoration as a collective learning process involving students, teachers, municipalities, NGOs and local communities. The initiative proposes transforming schoolyards and urban spaces into hands-on environments where environmental literacy, civic participation and climate adaptation intersect.

The project promotes:
• Soil unsealing and revitalisation of degraded urban land
• Water reuse and infiltration to prevent flooding and heat island effects
• Environmental education rooted in practice and local stewardship
• Participatory co-design between schools, municipalities and communities

By connecting ecological regeneration with education and governance, REUSES aims to develop a replicable model for urban resilience and soil literacy across Europe.

The assembly aims to co-develop a replicable educational and civic model for reclaiming sealed urban soils.

Its objectives are to:

• Foster soil literacy and environmental empathy through school-based learning
• Support community co-design of urban soil regeneration initiatives
• Promote water reuse and permeable urban infrastructures to mitigate flooding and heat
• Build partnerships between schools, NGOs, municipalities and researchers
• Develop tools and curricula enabling replication across European cities
